The comapny I work for pays $400 per month for my insurance. $4,800 per year...for me alone! I don't go to the doctor very much...Is it worth it? I wonder if I were able to get this $400 per month as part of my wages and then pay a portion of this towards the taxes for universal health care...would I actually be paying more?

What I want is timely professional health care that doesn't cost me an arm and a leg.
I don't mind paying for health care, I mind paying insurance executive salaries. I mind paying for Washington Lobbyists to bribe our senate and congress.
There has got to be a better way, but I'm not sure universal health care is the way to go.

Some companies will pay you more if you do not opt for insurance. I did Cobra once when i switched jobs, and it was great insurance, and my cost was only $297 a month, so very affordable if I was making an extra $100 a week!

But universal healthcare, NO WAY, because then we all would be paying for those who just do not want to work!

You will always pay more when the government controls something. They have NO incentive to keep costs down. Note how all the major companies have lay-offs from time to time, to keep costs down. Government only keeps adding people. Everything the government gets into gets screwed up. Look at Social Security. Think there's going to be any money in there for you when YOU retire? LOL!!! No way. The politicians can only spend money, more and more. They can't stop themselves. They will take half of what you earn, like they do in Europe. And look at the unemployment rates in Europe--15-20%. It's 4% here. Government can't do anything efficiently.
