He is in eighth grade, and hangs out with a lot of high schoolers, like sophomores. I always wondered why. I read his messages on myspace, and I know that he does all of that. My parents already know about it, because I've told them. But there really is no proof, and I know that he would just lie anyways. I can't help but say that he is such an idiot. I don't know what to do. And especially as a younger sister, I have no control over the situation.

I'm not close enough to my brother to talk to him. And my parents do care, but they just don't have any true proof.

I could never tell him that I was reading his messages. He would probably punch me in the face.

I don't care that I'm invading his privacy by reading his messages. I deserve the right to know.

Sweetie, I feel for you, but try not to stress yourself out about it and just let things happen. Do let him know how you feel about it, even if you think he really doesn't like you he will think about what you have to say. I doubt it will make him change, but at least you will have spoken your mind. Other than that all you can do is wait. I used to be like your brother when I was 15-17 and trust me, he will get caught. They are dangerous things to do and one day he will get busted, especially since he is so young, he may think he knows how to out smart anything but he doesn't. Friends get in fights, people tell on other people, kids get caught by parents or other adults. Just wait and see. After he does get caught, let your parents handle it, that's their job. Just worry about your life and try not to get yourself down about your brother's actions-and don't get caught up in it yourself! I suppose if you really wanted to do something about it you could manipulate him into thinking you want to do what he's doing and then when the time comes and you see drugs, ciggerettes, or alcohol somehow make up an excuse toleave and then you have your "proof" (that is if your parents believe you, and even if they do your brother will probably try to take you down with him and say you did it to.) I don't recommend this because it would be putting yourself in the same situation he is and you may get caught by your parents, or even worse. Good luck though. : )

Have you shown his myspace page to your parents? I don't think he is suppose to have one until he is 18 without their permission. As for proof, go on a quest to get proof...do you have a picture camera...maybe get a few snap shots undercover to show, and also let him know you are worried about him, that it isn't setting a very good example and you no longer want to look up to him...that might be pretty upsetting if you are close. Other than that just try to continue to convince your parents his behaviour is bad and show proof of it.

Show your parents his myspace messages. If that's how you got to know about all that then that would make great proof. By the way, did you say 13-year-old-brother?! What has happened to the youth?!?!

If he's only 14, you need to tell your parents. If you brother gets mad, just tell him how concerned you are about his future and his health. You don't want him to be addicted. Yes, definitely tell your parents. If people stop being friends with you because of it, they weren't really good friends anyway. Find some friends who don't smoke and drink.

Kids sometimes wants to impress their peers. He wants
to be apart of a particular group. Drinking, smoking and
using drugs makes him feel older. Most teens who live
this life style have poor grades in school, eventually they
drop out of school. It would be good for your parents
to join a counseling group that deals with "Teen and Drugs"
Know the signs!

Sounds like he'll have to learn for himself which probably won't work. I have a friend like that and he's been to jail more than once and still manages to screw up. Your bro will have to figure stuff out on his own I guess. Wait your parents know and they're not on his case? They're a lot nicer than my parents would be. But yea like I said he might have to see that he's screwing up himself. Hopefully it won't be too late.

Good luck with your brother. Talking to him wouldn't help any way believe me I've tried with 2 good friends and they blew off all the people who tried to talk to them.

Pictures are worth a thousand words. Catch him doing the dirty deeds in a few glam shots then show your parents. Or even record him on a tape player bragging. Good luck!

It is not your job to fix his problems it's your parents. And if they know and do nothing to get him help then they aren't doing their job as parents. tell them (show them his my space) let them see what you seen i that makes no different then know that you have done all you can. Just don't follow him remember School is important and drugs will only get in your way. Try to keep your head on straight, and let your parents deal with him.

If you can find out who is supplying him the drugs then you could talk to a police officer and get the scum bag who would give drugs to a 13 year old. do not put yourself in danger so be smart

thats what happens in 8th grade. I was like that to. Ask your parents to talk to him..but really the only one who can control if he makes bad choices or not is him. Try to tell him that you dont like him doing it and that drinking and drugs is really over rated. He will get over it.
