Blackle was created early this year, its a black version of google, reason behind to design it is that it saves energy, some 750 megawatts-hour energy is been saved every year,if goolge is so energy saving consious then why it cannot simply change the background color of google to black, why is there a neccessity for designing a separate site, similar to google??

Blackle only really saves energy on CRT monitors. The world is heading LCD very fast. So if google just went to black, some users would save energy, but the mass of LCD users would use MORE energy due in part to the fact that pure white on an LCD actually uses the least energy. It's called subtractive color, and its basically a mix of colored pixels that block out the backlight and create the K. So, all black = more energy wasted. With the extreme amount of lcd's out there, doing what you suggest would actually increase power consumption, thus totally negating the advantages of the blackle .

Oh definitly black, lol I went on Google immediately and did no longer anticipate it, it grow to be incredibly impressive. because of the fact many times the white history hurts my eyes if i seem at it too lots however the black provides secret and a feeling of relaxing to the often boring Google website. *EARTH HOUR CANADA 8PM-9PM turn OFF UR lighting fixtures* xx

The white text on black is hard to read - I couldn't even see the search box and had to take a stab at where it might be.

If Google switches over directly a whole lot of users might stop using Google all together and that can be disastrous to Google.

By offering them in parallel Google gives those who want to adopt it a chance to do so while still permitting those who prefer the black on white interface to continue with it.

It's all about marketing.
