How can I eliminate the wood smell from my dresser?

My Dad bought me a (relatively) cheap dresser that causes my clothes to reek of wood if they're placed inside. What's a good way to eliminate this smell without replacing said smell with another?

Someone else mentioned charcoal. I found the perfect product for this that I've used for years and know dozens of other people that use it. It is a product called FRIDGE IT carbon odor absorbers. It is a little purple cube with an incredible activated carbon filter inside that is really, really, great and eliminates the odors and for a long time. It works so much better than baking soda all those sprays, and fragrances that just cover up smells and doesn't get rid of them. Also, alot of sprays have warning statements about being eye irritant. and gels and oils that say keep away from fabric, pets,etc. and just don't eliminate odors. Just put a couple of these in the drawers.. Each only costs a couple of dollars. I use this product everywhere including car(smoke and pet smells), storage, closets, my fridge and also under sinks, near trash and have friends that use it on cat litter box and also diaper pails - it's that good. I really recommend it. You can buy it in kitchen gadget sections in stores like walmart and linens and things. I also think camping world sells it. Definitely worth trying .

be greatful for your "cheap" dresser (not even the "cheap" ones are cheap). I personally like the wood smell, but if you don't try putting bounce dryer sheets in each drawer, it will make your clothing smell springtime fresh instead of woody.

try containers of charcoal in the drawers for a while and some drying, and mildew prevention packets...not the smelly ones.
there is a clay type packet also for odor removal.
hey what about low odor paint inside the drawers and the dresser body. there is also a clear acrylic sealer.

Get a sachet and fill with potpouri. They sell them at craft stores little organza bags with a string that tightens. also you can go to a bed and bath store, and they make paper bag sachets that smell wonderful that are actually made for dressers.

I received some furniture from my mom. once in my house you could really smell the smoke from it. Honestly the best thing I did was to put it outside to air out. I have back yard with lots of wind. we left it out there for two days. any thing that had fabric on it I then sprayed with Frebreeze. and let it air out again.

Paint the inside of drawers with Kilz primer.

Why, I love the smell of wood. If you don't want your clothes to smell then get a rack and hang them on there.

I cant guarantee this will work, but try a box of baking soda. It might just absorb the smell

I guess you could try baking soda - maybe it'll take away the wood odor the way it absorbs food odors in the refrigerator.

Spray the drawers with vinegar and air dry.Litely.Then buy you a sachet at any dept.store and put it in the drawers for a while.The spray will work,but be sure to dry well...
