Use any gas before its birthday. I keep Lawn mower gas in air tight plastic containers and only buy enough for each season in two 2.5 gallon containers and one 1 gallon container for two stroke oil gasoline because when you add oil the gasoline gos bad faster.

I stored a barrell of gas in late '99 for the Y2K scare and just used it all... seven years later. Seemed to be fine. The oldest gas I tried was 9 years old in my Datsun , '70 truck. In that one I did notice lack of power and the smell of old gas.
