Woah St Louis ain't that small this guy is giving up 8 inches and 60 pounds. While i do agree you can be small and skilled 120 pounds for professional hockey is just too small. You will just get run through and won't be able to properly check the opponents.
Imagine Pronger hits this guy he'd probably get suspended for kneeing him in the face ;)
Or maybe this is a girl? Then I have no clue . . . and it depends on age i suppose as well.

typically no its not but, there are many undersized and weight athletes in every sport that become hall of famers or great players, being small just doesnt get you noticed in anything unless you ride a horse lol, saying that this planet is stuck on this absurd conclusion that an undersized guy/girl has a disadvantage and that couldnt be any farther from the truth.i could give so many examples from futie, jones jr, b sanders, but the reality is the more compact complete athete is better, being a 6'10 280 pound jalopy boxer on the norm isnt going to beat an athletic 6 footer at maybe 200 or 220 with speed on his best day. now in some positions or roles, size does matter but is generally overated. the bottom line is if you are small you wont be noticed as fast as a larger person even if you are stonger or more athletitic, this world does initually judge a book by its cover, but if you can play it will show and any size is fine if you do what you are suposed to do better than that larger guy. now 5'1 120 is pretty small but if you can go, show it and someone will reconize and respect what you do regardless if its hockey football baseball ect.

The first question is how old is the person in question? And what skill level are we talking about?
One of the defenseman I've skated with is 5'6", 145 lbs, and incredibly fast. He's very good. Then again, he's been coaching since he was 17.
One of the women on one of my teams is 5'4", and maybe 120 lbs. She's a pure scraper and goes after the bigger skaters without hesitation. I've seen her take out guys taller and bigger than her.
Hockey isn't all about brawn. There's quite a bit of brains and if you use yours more, you'll be in great shape.
Besides, once you hit 30, you try to keep the weight off, not put it back on. =)

Considering that most recreational leagues don't allow checking size isn't as big of an issue as it is in professional hockey. As several others have also pointed out there have been many undersized players out there that have put up incredible numbers while considered too small to be effective. Never let someone tell you that you can't do it because of your size.

Well it all depends on your age, if your older, like 20s+, then no way, even if your fast i know alot of people who are small and fast, they just get laid out all the time, but if your young, no offence if your not, like around 12 then ya sure, because i dont know many 12 year olds that much bigger than 5'1''.

I agree with no_dirt_on_my_shoulder; it depends on what age you are at 5'1", 120 lbs. If you're younger, you might be okay to play with people your age. You might even grow taller and be able to build more muscle (thus add pounds) when you get older.
There are always exceptions to the rule and people who defy the norm because you can work really hard sometimes and be successful despite odds. =)

not if you are playing competative hockey, you will get hurt. most people on teams are tall and if you play someone who is 6 inches taller if they keep their elbows and hands as low as they can be it will be a head shot. just like prongers hit on mcammond.
