Let's look at the rate per lb
5lb cost $4.75 or 4.75/5 = 0.95 per lb

20 lb cost $19.92 or 19.92/20 = .996 per lb

So the 5lb is better.
Look at it this way. If you b ought 4 of the 5lb, it would cose 4.75*4 = $19 < 19.92

the better deal here is 5lb of sugar for $4.75 since each pound cost 0.95 while 20 lb of sugar for $19.92 comes out to 0.996 (rounding off it's $1)...there really isn't much of difference...only a few cents but the 5lb of sugar for
$4.75 IS cheaper...

i got these numbers by dividing the total price by total pounds---($4.75/5 lb = $0.95) AND *$19.92/20 lb = $0.996 ($1))

The answer is found by dividing the price by the # of pounds to find the price per pound.

$4.75/5=0.95 per pound
$19.92/20=0.99 per pound

The better buy is the 5lb bag of sugar.

divide the 20 pounds of sugar by 4 and the price by 4 as well

$19.92/4=20lbs/4
$4.98=5lbs

so 5 pounds by itself is $4.75, and the 20 pounds is $4.98 for every 5 pounds

obviously the five pounds by itself (for $4.75) is the better buy!

If you bought 4 bags of the 5lb bags of sugar you would have 20lbs.

4x4.75=19.00

Devide the price of each by their pounds, the lowest one is the better buy.
