I am currently on Yaz (2nd month) and liking it so far, but i've heard a lot of negative things about this birth control. I was wondering if maybe I should switch to Yasmin? Has anyone been on both before? If so, which did you like better? Thank you :)

I've been on Yasmin for ten months... for the same reason you are.
It's great! It helps alot....
I've never even heard of Yaz..

and another thing (too the answerer a couple above me)... if you get pregrant while taking a birth-control pill, it's not necessarily the pill's fault... the person taking it could of made a mistake (forgotten a pill, didn't take it at the right time.. etc)

I am using Yasmin, it's been great thus far, I'm just finishing my first month. A lot of people experience depression and suicidal thoughts on Yasmin. That's the only draw back, but I haven't experienced any of that. Yasmin is pretty easy and I haven't gotten sick or anything. I haven't used Yaz, but it's in the same birth control family.

In response to the pregnant friend, when using any type of birth control it's only 99% effective, there is nothing that works 100%. When using birth control, one will not get pregnant if the directions are followed accordingly.

I'm on Yaz strictily for PMDD (premenstrual dysphoric disorder), and it's literally saved my life. Yaz and Yasmine are two very different pills, sometimes people mistake them for the same thing.

If you are liking the Yaz, stick to it. Everyone is different, some will have side effects with a certain pill and not the other, some will have side effects with both, and some won't have any side effects. It's really up to you, it's a personal choice. Since you like it so far, there is no reason to switch. :)

I have not been on Yaz, but I'm on Yasmin.

I have not experienced any side effects (besides being slightly nauseous the first couple days..went away quickly), plus I haven't gained any weight, which is what I was most scared of. As far as the depression/suicidal thoughts someone mentioned above, I haven't experienced that either. So I really like Yasmin, and I would recommend it.

i was on Yasmin after i had my daughter. i took it for almost 6 months. i had headaches, lost hair every time i would take a shower, i was cranky, sad, i cried about everything, my poor husband i just wasn't happy with anything he was doing, i would have spells where i would feel like i was going to throw up and seconds after the feeling would hit i would get so dizzy i would fall, everything would go black i mean i could NOT see anything and while all of that was happening all i could hear was this loud sound like a plane flying over me. please if you do decide to take Yasmin tell your Dr if you have any problems ANY at all. i was put ortho low and i have been on it for 5 years and have had no problems with it. as for the yaz i have never tried it but that is what my bff is on and she said she really loves its she said all of the other pills she took would make her cranky and with yaz she said she is happy 24/7. every woman is different and a pill that works for some may not work for others. if you have been on it for two months and no problems then you are probably OK. just make sure you tell your Dr if you have any problems. i hope i answered your question. :)

Yaz and Yasmin are made by the same company and use the same hormones. The difference is Yaz provides 3 extra days of hormone pills so that you can transition into your monthly cycle without as many symptoms of PMS. I've taken both and like them both. I'm taking Yaz right now and my cycles are very short....maybe one day which is great. Other than that I really don't see much of a difference. I started taking Yaz because its new and we have a lot of drug-rep samples not because I didn't like Yasmin.

My sisters on Yasmin & has no side effect so far. Shes been on it for a good few months. I take Diannette for painful periods and my skin as well. It definately helps with both especially my skin. I virtually get no spots at all anymore but i'm very careful at cleansing my face. I recently stopped taking Diannette & i developed spots on my chest, back and face so i went back on it & it definately clears my skin up. I've never heard of Yaz so can't comment, but i'm also not aware of Yasmin being used to help acne. Go and have a talk with your GP & he/she should help you with any concerns you have.

I was on Yasmin for two months, it gave me terrible headaches. Headaches every day, Ive never had that before in my life, as soon as I went off Yasmin the headaches stopped. I'd stay away from Yasmin if I were you.

Try Mercet or Kariva....(Im miss spelling them, but if you sound it out and ask your OBGYN she'll know which you're talking about)
