It's not about the money for some of these political leaders...it's about the power! The power to tell people what to do or power to make changes they think are good for the common people but in reality, they have no clue what is good for the common people because they can't relate on their level.
I don't trust any political leader...

For Republicans living in Washington, it is the desire to be accepted by the locals and the media. They always seem to forget why they were elected. Democrats don't get corrupted in the same way because they are expected to spend money an everything.
The other corruption seems to involve all politicians when they try to make deals to get their special interest projects passed.

More wealth but power is the main culprit just as it has always been. That's why we need term limits and that's why they avoid bringing it to the table, they will lose their power if they do.
