Of All-Time... it has to Babe Ruth. Traded for cash, this player went on to hit 714 home runs and become the baseball's greatest player to ever have played the game. And he was traded for cash.

But I have to say in more recent times the Derek Lowe & Jason Varitek for Heathcliff Slocumb was pretty bad.

As for trades this year nobody stands out so far. There weren't nearly as many big impact players moved during this past off-season in comparison to previous years. The biggest is Sheffield which has played pretty well in Detroit. To bad the Yankees didn't make him a first basemen.

President George W. bush traded Sammy Sosa of the Texas Rangers to the Chicago White Sox for a guy named Harold Baines.

Worst trade this year: GM Brian Cashman of NY Yankees traded Gary Sheffield for three minor leaguers, and started Bobby Abreu in right field. This was a bonehead move, regardless of Sheffiled's "attitude" he is better than Bobby Abreu!!!

As a braves fan the worst trade (in my life time) was Ken Barker, for Rick Behenna, Brook Jacoby, PTNL, and $150K. Barker won 1 game in '83, 7 games in '84, 2 games in '85 10 games in 3 years!!!!ok 2 1/2.

Behenna didnt do much so ok.

Jacoby hit most of his 120 homers in Cleveland and played from 84-91 for them, with a .405 slugging per. with .270 batting ave.

The player to be name later? Bret Butler, there lead off man for 4 years, all star, played til '97 too many other things that he did.

Norman Cash for Steve Demeter.

The Detroit Tigers obtained Cash from the Cleveland Indians for Demeter in a one-for-one swap in 1960. Here's how both players fared after the trade:

Cash played for 15 seasons with the Tigers. He hit 373 home runs (377 lifetime), won the batting title in 1961 with a .361 average, and made the all-star team four times.

Demeter played in 4 games for the Indians, and had 5 at-bats without a hit.

Well Joe Nathan, Fransisco Liriano, and Boof Bonser for AJ Pierzynski was pretty much awful, unless you're the Minnesota Twins.

This year I can only think of one trade, so I'm going to say the Florida Marlins screwed themselves by taking Armando Benitez and his bloated contract.

Well Listen to this. The twins traded a player to be named in 2000 to the houston astros for Johan Santana before he came up to the bigs.
