How did Kansas State recruit Bill Walker and Mike Beasly? From what i know, it wasn't that good of a program. Is it the coach, or what?

Bill Walker played at North College Hill in Cincinnati with OJ Mayo (goind to USC and regarded as the best recruit in his class). Walker developed a relationship with Bob Huggins after Huggins lost the Cinci. job. Through that, Huggins got him to come to K. State when he took the job. Beasley had a relationship with a Huggins asst. at K. State who originally coached at UNC Charlotte where Beasley was originally going to attend. Huggins hired him at K. State. I wonder what happens now that Huggins has jumped ship for WVU.
