Most backs like that lead with their helmet or their shoulder. Watch him and see if he is looking at the ground instead of for green as he approaches to hit you. If he is looking down grab the back of his helmet and plant his face in the dirt. This is a common trick used to break in new lineman on both sides of the ball. Football is like a fight especially as a lineman. You could also watch his hips. Very important. His feet will read something different but his hips always tell the direction he is going. If he is headed for you and leaned over a lot, step to the side and let him fall to the ground or trip over himself. Also if his hips sway to one side to dodge you, grab some cloth and hang on or wrap up and finish him there. Best advice. Get low. Crawl if you have to. Yes on all fours.

Get low, hit hard. I know ur young, but do as much with variety of weights as you can. Being a lineman is the ability to explode and have power. Just be quick off the line and be aggressive. Good Luck!

If you take the star back out by going for his legs, that wouldn't make a good impression. Go for his waist, if you are a lineman, you should be able to take him down that way. If not, get stronger. As long as your shoulders are lower than his, you should be all right.

Staying low is always important, but there is more to it than that. Your angle of pursuit is also very important. It is not a good idea to go head up on a bigger stronger faster back. Make sure that your angle lands your on his side and not head up. Then you also have to remember to hit him and not let him hit you, go after him at full speed.(remember that size + speed = force) The last thing you have to do is wrap! I cant stress this enough to my players. Some backs just take more than one player to take him down, so you have to wrap so that there is time for your help to get there for the gang tackle. Coaches love gang tackles, it shows that someone started it with proper form and heart.
I hope this helped, good luck this season!

I started varsity my frosh year because of the hit and run drill.. I'd say take him out and cement yourself as a starter on your frosh/JV team... but ALWAYS go for varsity.. show heart and u can make it... if you don't.. there's always next year....
Get the legs.... can't run without legs.. and HANG ON FOR DEAR LIFE so he doesn't evade... just don't kill him and lose a power back that your team will need

it really depends on your defensive position. For defensive line use your 4 points stance ( on all 4's) and go into the hole using the crab manuever. Linebacker and DB , read where he is going to move, watch the hips, NOT THE BALL, and go for the legs.

Get lower and take his legs out. It's the only method that works. Why can't you get lower?

Get lower than him. Try to tackle him around the knees or lower.
