I am sure this is an exaggeration.

Some forecasters express their forecasts as if they were a statement of fact. I.e., "a cold front will sweep across the region today and cause afternoon thundershowers". When worded that way it may seem like a lie, though it should be understood it is only a forecast (which may or may not occur).

Even so, I don't word forecasts that way. Rather I use "I expect" this or that to happen, "rain is likely", or such - so it is understood there is uncertainty involved. Probabilities are also good (though often misunderstood).

Meteorology is not an exact science.
It's kinda like horse racing.
Guys who watch it for enough years get pretty good at guessing which horse will come first, after they check out if the track is wet or dry, if the day is hot or cold, if the jockey weighs too much etc., but they're not always right. (if they were they'd be rich.)
Weather forecasting takes into account much information, barometric pressures, humidity, season etc., and then predicts what the weather is most likely to be.
We, the public, most often remember the times the meteorologists are wrong, not the times they're right.
Lastly you could have a fresh graduate predicting the weather in your area.
Tough luck but he or she will learn.

I don't think it has to do with lieing it has to do with a lot of variables.

the weather can change at an instant and depending where you live your forcaster may not have the experiance.

for more accurate realtime weather in the U.S. go to http://www.nws.noaa.gov
This is the only weather source I have come to trust. If you are concerned with the way your media forcaster is always wrong try contacting him orher to try and understand what he or she is dealing with mabey the station they work for does not have the resorces that the NWS has.
But please be careful on saying they are lieing because it has to do with the modles they are looking at and then it changes with out warning.

P.S. remember the weather is like a woman it can do what it wants when it wants and how it wants to do it and does not need a man to tell her what to do that is why they call it mother nature because it is like a woman

It's not the fault of the meteorologists. There are a lot of variables involved in the making of weather. It doesn't take much to change a prediction. Sometimes their predictions are based on old data. By the time they get it, the weather has changed.

The accuracy of a normal weather prediction has not changed much since the Weather Bureau started, which is around 85%.

It's not lying - it's an educated prediction based on what we learned in school and what we've experienced since then, as well as using the tools we have such as the models. I have to expect that the general public who complain about it couldn't do much better.

They don't lie, they just give us the readings. Weather is unpredictable and a work of God. there is nothing we can to about it. we could have the most accurate technology on the planet and still be taken by surprise.

Weatherman does not lie but weather only cheats them sometimes.
