There is no firm guide on the subject of black shoes or brown shoes but a little simple rule is and usually your best best is to wear black shoes with dark colors and all shades of gray. Wear brown shoes with lighter colors and all shades of brown. However, you can always wear black shoes with your brown suit but make sure your tie has a a little black in it and by all means where a black belt.
So, there you go. A simple way to keep on track and know you're always looking good!

RE:
What color shoe goes best with a dark brown men's suit?
I have a dark brown suit. I realize that I should wear brown shoes with the suit, but does it matter if the shoes are dark brown or a lighter shade of brown? It would be for a business attire. Should the shoe be darker/as dark as the suit itself? Does it matter?

The tie sounds great. Pair it with a basic white shirt; can't go wrong! Brooks Brothers makes great slim shirts, try theirs. And make sure you take the suit to a tailor to get the right slim fit; you don't want to look like you're swimming in the fabric.

The men in my life tend to wear matching accessories(ex: white shirt, belt, shoes), so if u wear light brown shoes, matching accessories would work with that. I would think that dark brown shoes would be fine, but I also think black shoes would work.

I think the shoes look more attractive in a dark shade of brown. Brown shoes will go nicely with beige, tan, or brown slacks; but tan shoes with brown slacks - ugh.
Likewise, black shoes go with gray or black, but gray shoes -
only gray.

try a solid pair of dark maroon shoes, you can get maroon polish, try putting it on light brown shoes if you want to get an intresting shine and it would liven up a brown suit.

I think that the shoes should be at least the same shade as the suit. because if it isn't then it will look a little unprofessional.

medium brown or dark will go better. like same color of the outfit but a little lighter works.
