Come on, Doctors, bio,scienctists/mathematicians cant even make more than a celeb. What are good celebs. make in the world, they do useless stuff, besides entertain people. Come on now, scientists should at least make a descent amount of money. Scientists made a much much difference in the world. Famous scientists should at least get paid equal to a celeberity like Stephen Hawkings come on now, whos with me?

Whats the taboo why?

Einstein should at least make a much more money than celeb. Its common sense.

I always think of the same thing, how come you have so many awards shows for celebrities and so few for scientists and engineers... most people do not care for what scientists/engineers, inventors, researchers, etc are solving, making or treating everyday, they are more interested in Paris Hilton going to jail and stuff like that. I'm an engineering major and it really gets me angry how we won't get any respect.. :(
Celebrities get free stuff every day... what do we get? debt because education is so expensive in the US, while those people are making millions for "acting" :(

People will pay what the market will bare. Law of supply and demand. Scientists deal with the real world, so understand this. They do not do science for the money; obviously.

Economics 101 - The combination of scarcity and the law of supply and demand. It's the same rule that applies to water and diamonds. Everybody needs water to survive, nobody needs diamonds. Yet diamonds cost much more than water, because diamonds are scarce and people want (i.e. demand) them and are willing to pay for them.

The same goes for scientists vs. celebrities. We all need scientists, but nobody needs celebrities. Celebrities are relatively scarce (i.e. only so many Angelina Jolies and Brad Pitts in the world) and people want (i.e. demand) to see them and pay money that finances their success.

In short, these two factors (scarcity, supply/demand) are the answer to your question.

Your logic makes plenty of sense. It just goes to show that we are willing to pay top dollar to those who take our focus off of life and to be entertained. Truly what celebrities must go through and give up (privacy, etc.) to be celebrities, they are probably earning at least a nice chunk of that money though.

Oil i assume for an consumer-friendly undertaking, is offered on what the corporate will think of its fee is going to be the next day. Its purely a sizable spiral upward. to renounce it, you could might desire to actual pass back in time. or perchance pass on a shooting spree at some pastime.

Yeah, but labs and universities don't hire new profs every 6 months at more and more competitive salaries like movie companies do.
