I have heard that each President leaves a letter to the President that follows him. Also, I would imagine that those letters are not available to the public.

What also puzzles me is that, if my premise is true, why is that not more commonly known? The easy answer to that question is that those letters are private.

I know that if that is the tradition of each incoming President, it would be unlikely that it would be possible to find out what's in them. Thank you for your interest.

If you know it, it is commonly known.

But did you know that each Vice President (since Harry Truman) signs the bottom (underside) of the middle drawer of their desk in the Old Executive Office Building on their last night on the job? I saw Gore's and the rest (on Gore's last night). Now there is something that isn't commonly known.
