If this happened to you personally it is a very tough situation. I would want to know the reason why they kept if from you for so long. You also have to realize that since they kept if from you they might have had fears too.

Take what you (if this is an issue you are having) are feeling and multiply it by 1000 that is what your parents are feeling anxiouty wise when they told you about them not being your family.

Remember that just having a baby doesn't make you a mother and a father its how you raise the child that makes the difference and makes you a family

Best wishes,

Toula

I have somewhat been there! My mom died when I was 5 in a car accident. The man who I thought was my father raised my brother and I after she died. I found out when I was 14 that he was actually not my dad, but my mom did not want me knowing, as my realy father was a jerk.

I look at it this way, the man who I thought was my dad, really is my dad. He raised me to be who I am today. What man would loose his wife at the age of 28 and still raise her child?

I think I would be really hurt. I am 24 years old. I would want to know why they didn't let me know when I was younger. I would still love them no matter what, but I would definitely want to find my real parents. Ask them why they gave me up and if they have been looking for me too.

They are your parents, just not biological ones. I'd be shocked for sure but you know, how could people lose trust? Despite not being your biological parents, they still took care of you and they told you because they wanted you to know the truth.

I would be shocked. Then I would look at life negatively and think "how many more lies are there in my life that I do not know about". I would be very upset and I probably would choose not to listen, or believe anything they tell me ever again. I would be a bitter person.....

I would be upset, but ask them why they took so long to tell you.Ask them if they do know your real parents and if possible to meet them..Always assure them you still love and respect them, because that is where you got your character from. Please no matter what..assure them they are your parents that raised you to this age..
Best of Luck..

Would never happen. I am a spitting image of both my parents. Put the two of them together and you get me.

I'd actually be really happy!!

Of course I love my parents but i'd rather not be in the same gene pool as them.
