Truth is never to be heard in a campaign. Truth could lead to panic, panic will lead to fear, fear will lead to hatred, hatred will mean no one votes for you, no one voting for you means you are seen by the American media and public as a LOSER and what politico wants that?

Not really. Not in the US, not anywere else. People denies peak oil because we have been receiving warnings for a long, long time yet nothing happens. People in the 70's would say "oh, dont worry, we still have 40 years of the stuff left". Well, the famous 40 years are gone...
Once oil and natural gas are gone we will probably turn to coal. The amount of coal that will be mined in the next years will be of biblical proportions, production probably will have to quadruplicate. This will bring a new problem by itself: Peak coal, probably around 2040 if we have not been fried already by global warming.
I'm not sure how is the rest of the world going to do, given that the US may have vast reserves of coal, the rest of the world not so much. Britain coal production itself peaked in by the mid of the 20th century.

It's not at serious risk of depletion. It is actually being depleted every day. Though I've seen a theory that oil is continuously generated naturally in the Earth's crust.
Why does someone in Washington have to do something about it? Not everything has to be done by someone in Washington.
How in the world does the occupation of an oil rich country in the middle east remedy the depletion of the world's oil supply?
Let's see. You want government to solve our problems, and you think we occupied an oil rich country in the middle east to take their oil.
I'll bet you're a liberal.

You want and expect a politician running for office to address something serious? What are you smoking? And from what planet did you come? Look, those running, hire people to take polls, they hire others to advise them on the results of those polls and still others to write a scripted speech for them on what they've interpretted as being what we the people want to hear. "Universal Healthcare?" It already exists. The E.R. (by law) cannot turn anyone way, regardless of their inability to pay or lack of insurance. Still, there it is, the issue of the moment. A fence at our southern border? A lousy idea? Then why do our elected officials all live in gated communities? Who are they trying to keep out? Suddenly, while all of the Repub.s are down playing their religious beliefs, Hillary and company have all suddenly found it! She said it was her belief that got her through the infidelity? I cruised through her autobiography. When did she ever mention God? Hmmm... And you want oil.

They are but not in a open debate able way. They are using Global Warming and Terrorism as the catalyst to address the issue. You won't hear it discussed as a political issue for a few years yet to come. The republican answer is to use more nuclear power and the dems want more eco-friendly power and money put in to research.

Eventually the sun will burn out too.. I guess we should start spazzing out about that?
There is enough fossil fuel to last us several hundred years, I'm sure there will be a new energy source perfected by then.
