In my neighborhood I see eight, nine year olds dressing as if they were from the projects, du-rag, overly baggy pants and all, and talking with such foul language meanwhile their parents/peers are blasting unedited rap music and the kids talk and fight the same way. Even my little 10 year old cousin, although she's not into the rap scene, she's certainly got a potty mouth on her. What happened to the days where kids were innocent and went out to play without fighting or hurting each other as often as they do today? Even in my job, funny how people want to stereotype inner city kids so much, but I see suburban adult moms letting their daughters dress like Britney Spears and not setting a positive example with their attitudes and ways. What happened to good children's programming and positive adults no matter what race, class, or area one lived in? Now it just seems like a big mess. Can anyone save the future generation?

I'm very young myself and I always wanted kids in the future but the way kids are getting i'd be scared to have my kid go to school with the amount of bullying and ruthlessness a lot of kids these days have.

I ask the same question. It just kills me to see the youth today doing things like this and acting this way. I mean, you see this in little kids now...what'll happen in the future? I'm seriously scared to see what this world will become. I really feel bad for these kids, because their parents don't care. I've always wanted to give this speech over the news informing people of what is really going on in this world and how it could be changing for the worse. There are so many problems in the world today. Global warming is speeding up; there is more violence so kids can't go play wherever without parents worrying; kids are turning into bad things, and the music and media is becoming dirtier by the second. Everyday I ask myself, what has this world become? It must've been so much better back in the old days. I mean, this is a serious matter. As I'm typing this right now, I feel like crying, because it just kills me to see this world turn into trash. You know, we really need to start something so people understand what is happening, so people understand that the world is going down the toilet. To make people see that this is just all wrong. Kids shouldn't be like this. Everything-the media, our technology, it's ruining the world. Do people not understand that the media is giving out a negative message to the world? The younger generation is GROWING UP in this, and that means that this is what they know, and how they're going to grow up. These kids are the future, and people aren't even looking ahead to see what these kids are going to amount to, and that's NOTHING. It's just like the Global Warming issue. People have heard of it, yes, but do they care? Nobody cares anymore, and the only thing that'll get them to care is if and when the world actually does come to an end, or if it goes to waste. That'll be the day they learn their lesson, but by then, it'll be too late. There's no going back. The parents, the media, nobody cares anymore. And if they do care, they aren't looking ahead. If they are looking ahead, they don't care. It's like there are only so few of us that know what this world is going to become. You and me, we know that the little kids of today are going to absolutely trash the world with the crap they grew up with. And it's sad, because we know that this is going to happen, but there are so few of us that still care, that it's almost impossible for us to make a difference. It just makes me want to cry......

I couldn't have said it better myself. If I were a parent, I'd
have three jobs so I could send my child to a private girl's
or boy's school or to Europe where they'd have a chance
at a real education. It's not the kids fault. It's kids having
kids and the general decline of American society into
a miasma of pop culture. Why two people that work full
time would even consider having a family is beyond me.
Really selfish. It's so sad. The kids can't even speak
their own language. They're sullen with vacant expressions
and bad attitudes. I know there are exceptions, but
I see it all the time (and I live in an affluent community) so
we're not immune to the general trend. Passive entertainment has a lot to do with it. I know several families
here who have home schooled their kids and what a
difference that makes. Those kids have a great childhood,
no T.V. or Video Games, about a thousand books and
one computer that their parents moniter closely and that
they all use as a family. They're most educated kids I
know, all play an instrument, write in their journals, paint,
put on plays, sew, design games to play and all go on
vacations together. Their parents have saved to take
them to a different country each year to learn about another
culture. The best you can do is talk about it like you're
doing here on Answers. I think the future generation is
going to have very serious problems regarding their
survival and won't have too much time to be as low-life
decadent as they are now.

I wondered that, too!! I say that it's all rap music, MTV, bimbo celebrities' fault! But most of all....the PARENTS!! The parents these days should learn to ACT like parents by teaching their kids right from wrong! Most parents these days are young and listen to rap music and go by whatever Paris or Britney tells them. They fail to realize that once they have a child, they have to grow up and be responsible for the sake of their child. They wait until it's too late after their child shoots up a school or start doing drugs or far worse! The children are the future...and if their parents don't finally step up and be responsible and teach their children right from wrong, the future will be very grim.

Monkey see, monkey do. I lived in the less than desired area in So. Ca. and I found both good and bad. Most kids are okay really. I moved to the southeast and man, what a shock. The kids here are pleasant and respect full. I don't live in the big city anymore, a little town w/values.

Children today have too many images to relate to that are harmful to their soaking brains. They don't really have parents to parent them. They have babysitters, or teachers or other adults but no real parents anymore. Mom and Dad are both working 8 to 10 hours a day to pay that mortgage on that big new house they needed......they could have purchased a smaller older model and found time to parent. Children need examples of trust, respect, commitment, honor and above all a sense of God in their home. They are single entities now and travel alone........it is all so wrong.

I know exactly how you feel. I have a 14 month old baby and i wonder what the future would hold for them? I love my child so much so that i want to keep him away from violence, from violent movies, from potty mouth kids, from bullies... and many more. What can i really do to keep this planet a safe place to stay for everyone of us?

Anyone who might save them, will have to teach them that consequences follow actions, and it's been a generation or so since anyone took that responsibility. Gonna have to hurry up.
