With all the talk lately about illegal immigration from Mexico to the United States, the country of Canada has actually been inserted into the discussion.

Its been said several times lately by politicians: "if we need a fence between the U.S. and Mexico then don't we need afence along the U.S./Canadian border?"

Have you ever heard anything more ridiculous?

Is there really any serious problem with immigrants coming from Canada? Who comes from Canada? Oh yeah, Canada's best doctors, computer technicians, and actors come to the U.S.

Save the money from a border fence in the north and make the one on the U.S./ Mexico border twice as high.

The whole "build an American-Canadian" fence argument is rediculous on so many accounts its not even worth talking about. However, immigration from Canada to the United States is more prominent than most people would believe. However, the vast vast majority of this immigration is legal, as it is much easier for highly skilled doctors from Canada to get a pass to come to the United States than it is for Mexicans living below the poverty line.

A fence and for that matter border enforcement along the Canadian border is necessary but not to protect us from Canadians. It is just too easy for anyone including terrorists to simply cross from Canada to the U.S. and back. The world is a different place right now.

Canadians have one of the highest standards of living in the world, a much lower crime rate than the U.S., a far more humanitarian approach to society building generally... it has medicare, low rates of poverty compared with the U.S.... the country is extremely beautiful...

Canadians don't have as much 'extreme' wealth, but that's by design. The wealth is spread more evenly over all sectors of society. There's not the extreme wealth or the extreme poverty in Canada.

So why would masses of Canadians want to leave an economically successful and socially advanced country with all kinds of opportunity... to go to the U.S.? Maybe a few professionals who really want to make some outrageous money... but the price for that would be to live in a country with severe social problems... and no real solutions in sight.

Canadians know how good they have it. They're not leaving without a heck of a good reason.

So... putting up a wall has little benefit outside of keeping out the bears. 99.9% of Canadians haven't the slightest inclination to live anywhere but Canada.

Correct me if I'm wrong but that statement was made by an official trying to mock the idea of the Mexican border fence.

We dont have a problem with illegal Canadian's flooding the U.S.

Although I do believe that Mexico is a much bigger issue, I still remember that we foiled a terrorist plot coming through near the Vancouver/Seattle border. If I'm not mistaken, John Lee Malvo also came through that border illegally so it is a legitimate matter of national security in my eyes.

Any illegal immigration is an issue. they need to come to the country coreectly if they are going to come at all. Although illegal immigration has been based mostly around mexican illegal immigration, it applies to all those who refuse to come into America and refuse to follow it's laws. If you pick it up, listen to Phil Valentine and Michael Savage on talk radio. Phil comes on at around 5:00 central time and Michael 8:00 central.

Consider this a nice firm hand shake, as I agree. Canada is NOT the problem, it is Mexico and has been since my grandfather was a young man. Take the money and build one twice as high is a excellent idea.

There no issue with illegal Canadians. Both our nations have comparable standards of living so why come here when they can stay there? Nothing like Mexico.

I am sick to death of canadian illegals in this country. Jim Carrey, Celine Dion, Shania twain, Pamela Anderson, Bryan Adams, Alanis Moriset and others should go back to Kanuck-land-eh?-and-commune-with the mooses/meece.

Illegals are a problem no matter where they are from. If they want to be here, do it legal. If not, send them ALL back to were they came from. I for one am tired of my TAX dollars going towards keeping them and their families while our own POOR get the shaft.
