I dont know a thing about the Gators program (other than they beat my Bucks), but im sure that just because their starting 5 are gone, they arent dead in the water. Their starting five were pretty amazing. They could have several younger guys right behind them, just waiting for their chance to shine. And those younger guys will have benefitted greatly from practicing against the exiting starters.

I think Florida will take him back, there would be a fan uprising otherwise. But this series of events will hurt Donovan's ability to recruit kids out of high school. Most top-level recruits choose which school they attend based upon which coach they like best. They also want to know that the coach that recruits them will be there while they are still competing for that school. Donovan's flirtation with the NBA calls into question his future with Florida. Recruits are less certain that he will be at Florida for the next 4 years, or whether he might skip town in another season or two.

Coaching stability is only one item on a big list of concerns for a college prospect, but it may be the most important for some. Those kids, Donovan is going to have a harder time getting to sign with Florida.

UF should not fire Billy Donovan. They would be stupid to because he has won them two consecutive championships in the college ranks. He has given the school a basketball identity to go along with their established identity in the college football ranks. If he wants to go pro, then they should go ahead and let him and give him their blessing as the school president has already said, but if he doesn't then there is absolutely no reason to fire him. There are few coaches that are anywhere near the level of Donovan. He turned that program upside down and has led them to more SEC championships during his tenure there than they had the entire time before he arrived. It would be absurd to fire Donovan because he is a fantastic coach who has done a wonderful job at Florida. I hate the Gators, but I have to admit that they're one of the best college teams that I have ever seen play the game. Donovan will be great anywhere he goes and anyone who has the opportunity to get him should do whatever they can to get him.

If you are not on vacation, or something similiar, you should really delete this idiotic question that you understanably asked in anger/temper.

BTW, UF has a top 5 recruiting class coming in this year, and Billy D is on his way to even a BETTER class for 2008-09!!

No, they shouldn't. I don't claim to be an expert, but I think Donovan's a good coach- I don't know how well all that college talent projects to the NBA. And yes, he has to start all over, but being the coach who won back-to-back national championships has to be a pretty good recruiting tool.

heck no he won two titles with Florida he is a great coach every school he coached has improved(Marshall) i guarantee you that didn't know the five starters for Florida until billy Donovan step up so don't come with that excuse that he had great player because he made those great players.

Humphrey, Lee Green, Taurean Horford, Al Noah, Joakim

Brewer, Corey now you know them thanks to donavan

by the way donavan has won the only two championships for florida so they owe him alot

Donovan is a punk...

No way, great coach...he wanted UF the whole time. I'm sure it'd be hard to turn down the money.

They shouldn't bring him back, first kentucky now the magic. The guy just doesn't seem to know what he wants. One minute he is ready to leave and the next he can't bear the thought of leaving.
