I think that depends on what you mean by "the big one". If it's a natural disaster, there's some reasonable expectation that destruction will be limited to a certain area, but we won't have much warning (psychic phone lines aside). At the same time, if you know there's a hurricane angling your way, how about walking away from the beach?

If the big one implies North Korean WMD or flu epidemics, you might see a few rumblings of warning. Hopefully your ducks are in a row financially so you can make sure there's at least the Red Cross 2 week minimum supply around...

At that point it depends on you: if you're going to head for the hills, make sure you've got your kit together.

If you're hunkering down at home, that's OK too, but don't be one of these pathetic folks on the TV news standing around "jus' waitin' for somebody to helps us." Help yourself... FEMA may be coming, but it ain't gonna be fast or accurate.

If the big one is some bad disaster movie planet killer, then see above: eat a big dinner and have one last great booty call.

I'm heading for the country when TEOTWAWKI comes. Cities will be no fun in those days. I can survive myself, or with my family if I have one. I am well armed enough to take care of any mutant biker zombies who come my way.

Hopefully watch it from somewhere else. Our luck should hold out during our lives, though. I think science is looking at
