I mean by telling you they are not possible or just being negative towards them?

Yes. That happened to me repeatedly when I was younger.
Then I discovered that their negativity wasn't mine. They own it, I don't. I left them to wallow in it and took off own my own.
I'm more successful today than they ever were. I'm proud of it too!

I only believe in me and no one can take that
If people are negative they're just not in my life anymore
That's why I have only a few friends
I'd rather that, than hundreds

Yes, many years ago and I still detest my ex husband telling me I had no talent when others would rant and rave over them. He was just afraid that I was better than he......I realized so many things when I finally got the guts to walk away from him and his intimidation.
