My cousin does. And half the time it doesn't even make sense. It's so random and stupid. You can say something like "Your hair looks nice today" and she'll say "Not really, but I stayed at a Holiday Inn Express last night."

I am that cheeseball you speak of. Except my line is "I'm not a doctor, but I play one on TV". I will have to remember the Holiday Inn Express line, though.

Yes, and the most annying part of this habit is that he insists on telling you that it is a random pop culture reference as if no one else could pick up on it without him telling them.

I knew someone who quoted every teen cult-classic movie every time she spoke. It drove me insane! I don't think she does it so much anymore.
