I would paint it with "oops" paint, meaning it was opened, sampled, and returned. There is nothing wrong with the paint but the color was wrong for that particular customer and it is available at deep deep discounts over regular priced new paint.
The catch is that your selection will be limited to what happens to be there the day you shop. There won't be huge quantities of single shades or finishes, and once it's gone it's gone unless you pay full price for more of that color. So you have to be flexible with your design, you may have an idea and the colors available won't let you do that exact thing. Use multiple colors that go well together (don't try to match exact shades) and then you can mask off stripes, or whatever. Or you can do an abstract freeform painting mural-style on the wall...huge customized art that is very very cheap.
My suggestion is to buy a few different colors that add up to the total paint you need (with a little extra), then instead of working from one side of the wall to the other, work from the center to the sides, balancing your use of each color until that color is gone, then open a new color and do the same thing until the wall is covered. Then it won't look like you ran out of paint and kept going with something else. You could use this method with stripes very easily. It would look "random on purpose".
Oops paint is also a great way to do trim and small pieces of furniture. So for very little money and a little creativity you can give everything a fresh look.

Ooh! I love a nice blank wall! You can go to a thrift shop and look for cool things to hang on it like bedspreads, wall hangings, cool clothes. Or you could find some old clothes to cut up and make a collage from. Go to a paint store or hardware store and ook for the Oops! paint. When they mix the colors wrong they sell them for like $2 and a can of paint can go a long way. You can cut out some stencils from poster board and stencil the wall. Take a potato and cut it into a stamp and stamp a design. You can trace some shapes from coloring books or fabrics if you feel llike you can't draw them. There are soooo many things to do with a blank wall. Cut out great pics from magazines and make a huge paper collage to hang.
Look in some magazines for great ideas too! You could cut pics from magazines and hang them then paint frames around them. Get some fabric scraps and frame them to hang. I could keep going but I'll stop now. LOL
Have fun! ;-)

Paint a mural. You can collect paint from all kinds of places. I mix my own and have painted things all over my house.
I have windows on walls that look out into the jungle, I have vines and columns. The worst thing could happen is you end up painting it white again.

You could buy a few yards of inexpensive fabric that matches your decor and drape it along the top of the wall almost like a valance. Add a framed piece of art or a photograph that's bigger than or at least a 10x13 and poof, you have an eye grabber.

Paint it a different color from the rest of the room. Something a little darker or bolder to make it really pop. That or if you have any type of artistic ability try painting some type or mural.

my wife took an overhead projector from school and used it to trace whatever drawing she wanted on the wall and you can change the size easily this way. I think you can even use paper and it will show up well enough to draw on your wall. Then, a little paint and it will look like a pro did it.
