Well my uncle is in Iraq and is a translator for the soldiers. His son is eldest son is 11 and his youngest is 6. When his dad left he told him that he was the man of the house now and this 11 year old has the weight of the world on his shoulders. He has to deal with his dad being in Iraq first of all and he has to care of the rest of his family. I think if he was at least 16 that would be ok but his dad has been gone since he was 10 years old! He even bosses his mother around like they are married or something. No I don't think think the oldest should hold the authority in the household until he is at least 16 its too much of a responsibility!

Gosh, I hope not. In this household, the oldest male is my 12 year old grandson. lol
Unfortunately, he thinks he is the authority in this household, but I have to continually knock him back down a peg or two. lol

No. The oldest male isn't always the head of the household and many households don't have males living in them.

Biologically, yes. Naturally in humans the oldest male is the pack leader and bosses everyone around. But more and more alpha- females are showing up and beat down the males. We are just becoming more independent and evolving

NO, I think that in today's society the woman does more than the man, which should entitle her to more Authority... Unfortunately Men are still stronger then most women.:( And usually have a louder and more stern voice when they speak.
