Maybe because Myra always harboured ideas of getting out?
Brady admitted his crime soon on and , whilst he is being held in Maghull, I know he he has been so unwell for such a long time.
He is a very poorly looking old man now, who wants to be left to die.
Yes he is that man that did those crimes and lets not forget that, but he never courted publicity like she did.
Even Leslie Ann Downeys mum, Ann West hated Myra more.
This was because she blamed her for being the half of the duo that Leslie Ann would have trusted, and the one who let her down most as "womwn dont do this type of thing"
The smaller children prob wouldnt have gone if it wasnt for Myra being there. Like John Kilbride, and Leslie Ann.
Edward Evans was diff he was older, but Pauline Reed, knew Myra as a neighbour so its unlikely Ian brady would have got her in the car, without Myra to help.

Ian Brady was mentally disturbed, psychotic with longstanding behavioural problems starting from a very young age, so therefore had this as an 'excuse' for his actions. Myra Hindley on the other hand was just a normal girl until she met him, she had no excuse of a past history of mental illness. Had she not met Brady then he would probably have brainwashed somebody else who was impressionable enough to carry out his bidding. Hindley was labelled as pure evil, I however think that had she not met him she probably would not have murdered anybody.

As the first answerer says, people expect women not to be able to harm children, so when a women is involved in these crimes it is always more shocking. Its like it is going against the nurturing nature of women
I think that they are all as bad as each other: Ian Brady and Myra Hindley, Maxine Carr and Ian Huntly, Rose and Fred West.

Along side all the other things already mentioned - as in women do not normally commit crimes such as this;she was proven not to be a sociopath etc, the picture most often used of Myra Hindley makes her appear to be a very nasty person.
Appearance is everything! Unfortunately our primal brain judges character very quickly based on attractiveness.

I've always hated and been angry with him and I don't care what 'problems' he had or has. I just don't feel it's a good thing for me to feel that way but whenever I hear the name the memories of that time come flooding back, it was horrible to live through and as more facts came to light the worse it got. No-one could really believe how any people could do what they did!
Hindley is talked about more but that is because of her behaviour throughout her life! How any woman could do as she did and then fight for her freedom is beyond my comprehension and as far as I'm concerned 'good riddance' to her.
If there REALLY IS A HELL let them both burn!

A very good question and a valid point as it does seems as though he is allowed to live in quiet seclusion, where his name is used to a far lesser degree and his role somewhat lessened in the eyes of the general public and indeed, the media itself.
However I also agree with the level of hatred aimed at Myra Hindley as, in my humble opinion, there is nothing worse than someone who will actively participate in the luring of innocent children to the fate that she was aware they would suffer at the hands of this man.
She knowingly led these children to their suffering and to their deaths and while he was the person who ultimately starved them of life, she was essentially more wicked.
I believe that it was Myra who sealed their fate.
He had the desire to hurt and kill those children and she became a willing conspirator, encouraging and enabling him.
He will die in prison, the monster that he is and the families will never forget or lessen his role even if the media do.
She died, never knowing the freedom that she craved and her supporters will see that as tragic.
I see it as something we rarely see in this country....Justice.

Ian Brady has, to some extent, admitted his guilt and has said that he would never apply for parole as he believes that he does not deserve it. He is quietly getting on with his time, knowing his role and his guilt.
Hindley on the other hand refused to accept her guilt, and blamed everyone else for what she had done.

the quantity of hatred directed at Obama is surprising - human beings accusing him of being anti-semitic, anti-american, racist, a secret muslim, a much-left marxist, etc. i can not incredibly fathom the place they get those issues from. It incredibly isn't coming from the Clinton camp - I even have by no capacity heard Clinton or her human beings ever accuse Obama of those issues, besides the fact that if a number of them do communicate some few of his pals. possibly the countless Clinton surrogates insinuate that Obama shares those perspectives, yet in many situations they say outright that they have got not got faith he does (on a similar time as on a similar time announcing it shows he has questionable judgment and needs to describe issues). i are not getting it. yet in spite of this, Hillary herself continued certainly one of those hatred interior the 1990s and there are even some Obama supporters who regrettably DO say they could by no capacity vote for Hillary ,etc. that's gloomy through fact such as you're saying, actual democrats vote on themes and don't spend all their time trashing different democrats.
