Cheep and eazy.By five or six boxes of bakeing soda.Put the bakeing soda in a cardboard box and leave in the center of the car for 24 hours with the windows up.The bakeing soda will pull and trap the smell in the bakeing soda. This works very well.Best of luck.

Steam clean the carpets and upholstery anything fabric. Then spray it down good with febreeze close it up over night. Another thing you might try is to cut a bunch of lemons and put them in glass bowls in the front and back seats park the car in the sun on a good hot day. Or sprinkle baking soda over the upholstery and let it set over night then vacuum out the next day. The latter two are what we used to do before febreeze, when the kids got sick all over the car, and they always got the vomit smell out.

I think the ex owner smoked alot with the air conditioner switched on. You probably have to change the filter dryer and top up your aircon gas with perfumed gas . But for a cheaper alternative try getting 'pandan leaves' at least ten of it and leave it in your car for a few days. don worry its used in singapore to repel cockroaches and ward of smells.

well u got some great replies. frebreeze does do amazing things. dont forget that you have a cabin air filter. that needs to be replaced. i use a carpet shampooer in my car. its bascially a wet vac with a carpet nozzle attachment. if you can get your hands on one, be sure to do the headliner. congrats on your new car.
