No and no.

If you put them together you risk them fighting, biting each other, chewing fur, chewing tails off, etc. It may not happen right away, but there's a high probability it will happen sometime.

The reason for "No" on the rubbermaid container is that rabbits need good ventilation. A rubbermaid container does not provide that. Spend the money and get a wire cage. The Rubbermaid container would cause a build-up of ammonia in the container and that is not good for the rabbit. In younger rabbits and in older rabbits alike a build up of ammonia can cause wry neck among other things.

Note to RabbitGal:

RabbitGal your statement that a rabbit cannot get pregnant twice is incorrect. It is very rare, but it can happen. I have seen it happen once or twice in 25 years of breeding rabbits. That's hundreds to thousands of rabbit breedings over that time, so not very often at all.

Female rabbits have two separate uterine horns as part of their sexual reproduction organs. Due to the two separate uterine horns a second set of eggs can be fertilized while the the rabbit is already pregnant with its first set of eggs. Like I said, it is rare, so don't expect it happening very often. If you question whether I'm correct, I suggest you ask the ARBA or a good rabbit vet like Dr. Chris Hayhow that would know. I've read past ARBA articles on the subject in Domestic Rabbits. I've you've shown rabbits for 22 years I'm sure you know by now that the ARBA is very knowledgable about rabbits unlike www.rabbit.org.

You shouldn't keep rabbits of the same gender in the same cage because they might get territorial, unless they have been fixed this its possible.
You should keep a male and female that have both been fixed together, but you must first bond them.

Put both rabbits somewhere where neither have been together for a couple minutes each day, increasing the time each day as you go. If things don't work out, seperate them.

A cage should be tall enough for each rabbit to stand up in with out even close to touching the top. And 5 times the rabbit fully stretched out, which means more space since there is going to be two.

Not right away. Keep them in separate cages at first. Take them out to socialize and play for a few minutes each day, and gradually increase the amount of time they spend together. After a bit you can cage them together.

BUT you have to remember....unless they are spayed/neutered you cannot put the same sex in a cage. Even if proper socialization has taken place, when they get into heat they will fight. And the same goes for opposite sex unless you are okay with them having little bunnies. Keep them together but make sure you watch out for them to start acting a little different when that time comes. They will become very territorial and then you may have to separate them and have them sleep in separate cages.

Don't use a rubbermaid. They are social and like to see what is going on outside the cage. They like to push their faces against the cage and watch what your doing.

I would not keep two rabbits in the same cage, container, or whatever. As a general rule, rabbits like their own space. Females will fight with each other, males will hump each other, and one of each equals lots of babies. And to the person who thinks rabbits can get pregnant when they are already pregnant..............??? What the heck?? I have no idea where your source came from, but this is pure crap. Once a rabbit is pregnant, that's it. She carries the babies to term, and that's all. She doesn't have another litter of babies weeks after having the first. I raise rabbits and I will rebreed a doe about 2 weeks after the first breeding. MOST of the time, once a doe is already pregnant, she will have nothing to do with the male. This is a good way to tell if she's already pregnant. I've had a few does who are horny, and they will mate with a buck, even when they are already pregnant. They still have their litter as originally planned, but they certainly didn't get pregnant twice. This makes no sense, and I certainly hope nobody who reads that will repeat it to someone else because it's just not true. They can get pregnant shortly after giving birth, but that's true with lots of animals. But you can't get pregnant when you're already pregnant.

um what do you mean by "keep them in a rubbermaid container" i hope you dont mean using the rubbermaid container as a pet carrier because i dont think that is a very good idea. but you could keep two rabbits in one cage as long as it is big enough, by big enough, both rabbits should be able to lay down at the same time and they should be able to stand on its hind legs without hitting its head.

A rubbermaid container is way too small for a large breed rabbit! they would need a 30"x30" cage. you can keep them 2gether if they are fixed.

there's nothing wrong with using a rubbermaid container, as long as it is big enough, and the rabbits get along..

however, if the rabbits are not neutered/spayed, they will breed.. and you dont want a breeding pair housed together, because rabbits possess the abillity to breed multiple times, meaning that even though the female may be pregnant, she can continue getting pregnant throughout the current pregnancy, which is TERRIBLE for her health. you may want to seperate them, if you are unsure of the sex of the 2 , just to be sure.

you can keep two rabbits together as long as both are fixed and they get along. ypu proably shouldnt keep them in a rubbermaid container for long, they can probably jump out of it and it will start to smell. you are best to build your own cage or buy one. .
