I care because these parents are putting their child through hell eventually.

Actually, from some of the names i've seen, "Apple" is acutally nice.

EXACTLY. At three it may be fun to say "MY NAME IS SUMMER-ANN MARIEE.

But... 26 years later...

So you want to work with our company? What is your name?

Uh..summer-ann marie...

GOODBYE.

Actually, spelling the names differently is a bit better than calling them something totally off.

Like the name Jason.

Nothing wrong with Jayson.

Or Amy, nothing wrong with Ayme or Ami.

It's just some of these names...

"discusted" is actually spelled disgusted...and if you do not like those names I suggest you not use them.

Like the first person said, different strokes, different folks. People like names that are not common. I'd rather my child have an uncommon name than be a Mike, Kate, David etc.

These names aren't as bad as some of the made-up names I've been seeing. "Nevaeh"??? Sure, it's "Heaven" spelled backwards, but come on. Or "Dahsn" instead of Dawson. The one that takes the cake, though, is "K8y" (Katie). People are either going to completely mispronounce or mispell the name. I feel for our teachers and for the kids whose parents choose to be a little too unique.

first, disgusted, not discusted. but no, you're not the only one. However, what makes me glee a little is that these are the children who will scream at their parents "I HATE YOU FOR GIVING ME THIS STUPID NAME" over and over. And maybe we'll have a generation after this who will go back to good, solid names.

And cutesy spelling drives me more insane than anything, personally.

Madylynn, Brookelynne, Mykah, Cydnee, Quinlynne.... it makes my brain explode.

Every time I get into a mode where I can't handle the suggestions people make here, I head over to http://www.notwithoutmyhandbag.com/babynames/ and realize it can get worse. It really can. *facepalm*

I don't like common names like Kate, Jason or David. Sorry it's personal preference. My son is named Nigel. Not common in the US. I don't want my child to have to share the same name with 15 other kids in his school.

I admire the fact that they are trying something different.
However, I also admire that you are pointing out their creativity sucks.

People SHOULD have different names - it's actually ridiculous when there's like 50 Toms in a school. But maybe they can think of better names then Rainbow and Summer Breeze.

oh my God why are all these people so violent to you...this is a forum....free speech...why the hell they all so mad at you...you have just as much a right to say wow about these freakin weird names as much as they say they like them..and you know what....all those responders probably have weird names...and you know why they are weird because their parents...or mother never finished HIGH SCHOOL and still don't know how to spell so they do it phonetically which is pathetic and funny... I mean leave the ghetto stuff at home...these poor kids won't know how to use proper English because their name doesn't apply to the right way to spell...like someone just wrote about Alexus...try Alexis!!!!..so in a nut shell I'm right with you....I love the guys that have female names...once again it's because their parent don't know that in most languages...a name ending in "A" is feminine and a "O" is masculine....so to see a guy named like.....oh wait let me think real hard and make up a kids name...!! umm..dria or darriosa...well the name is a freak name but because it ends in an A then whatever the heck that name is I just made up would be female...but I bet now there'll be a boy out there with not only a wait what's it called? "unique"...name but a girly name...hahaha...lol..

Well, people want to give their kids unique names, and there are enough of those names that I actually don't think the kids will be teased as much as you think. For a while...classic names were popular (Jessica, Jonah, Emily etc...) and now we're heading toward the 60's again. Just wait. When those names become the 'Tom and Sue' of the 21st century.... Sunrise Marie will have kids named Mavis and Seymour, and HER mother will hate those names! LOL!

I agree with you completely. It seems a lot of the parents are really only thinking about themselves. They're trying to be creative or different with zero regard for what their children are going to be going through in the form of teasing, spelling, pronouncing, their own names.

Ha ha...it's true! Some of the names are kinda outlandish.

But at least they're asking for opinions I guess, just hope for their child's sake, that they choose a nice won't-be-made-fun-of name.

Parents are so busy reveling in the cuteness of a baby that they forget that that baby will grow up to be a working adult. No professional adult wants to be known as Summer Rainbow or Autumn Sunshine. Can you say stripper name?

Some parents are just...weird. And ignorant to boot.
