I have an interstate child support case. The other parent is $10,000 behind and behaves as a true deadbeat (ie, switching jobs, not filing taxes, working cash jobs and moving frequently) I contact my case worker often for updates but she blows me off. Each state involved punts all the responsiblity to the other state and nothing is being done to enforce payment. I have yet to see a single payment in the few years this case has been open. Not filing taxes is illegal, but nothing has been done about any of this. I need help!

this parent has no assests to speak of (ie, no house or car of his own). there is a bench warrant in one state, so he moved to another. this was three years ago. and i doubt that if he was pulled over for a traffic violation that he would be extradited across the country.

The filing has to be done in the state in which all paperwork on the divorce and child support started...
It does no good to file in other states...
Then you can file a judgment against him so that when he gets his income tax return, he is not given his return, but the money goes to you...
This also works if he has things to sell, like a house, car, land, boat, or anything of value that has a title...
Also, send a certified letter to be forwarded to the new address the post office has on file...
The post office wont give you his new address, but you can send him a certified letter that has to be signed so you know he got it...
Then take that receipt to your child support services people and they can hunt him down by the zip code in which he lives...
They can also check to see if he has a working phone number and a working electricity line...
Once they find him, he can be sent to jail or at least threatened to do so...

I am and have been going through the same bull with child support. These parents are deadbeats and know how to get out of paying child support. Get some counseling on this as to what your best option is and then walk away from it all. Remember, once a deadbeat always a deadbeat...he/she gets a real kick out of your reaction to this situation.

Since not filing taxes is illegal, the IRS would be interested in that. You have a case worker but I think you might need a lawyer instead.

Join the club, my ex currently owes $18,900.00 in back child support and isn't paying current support, he does everything he can to dodge having to work, or works under the table. If you get on the local support enforcment about it then they see you as a pain in their butt, I know, I have been going through the same thing for a very long time. All I can give you for advice is to contact local and state government (senators, representatives, etc) some of them do put their foot in the door and help out if they can. Do you know anyone that knows the other parent, or keeps in touch with them? I would try to find out from them if you can and if you know they are working somewhere, or have any assets then you can turn them in. If you know they are working under the table and for who they are working then call the IRS. Other than that I don't know what to tell you, I still haven't had any sucess. Good luck, I'll be crossing my fingers for you!

Good luck I am owed over 40 thousand in back child support. The payee was brought back to Washington state to Wisconsin and held in jail. We went to court, he lied to the judge paid two months child support and not a penny more. He did just what I told the judge he would do and so I re-filed that was months ago and nothing. So, if you figure it out would you let me know?

Try www.childsupport.com
They are a professional child care network. You may lose any help you were getting from state child care agencies, but they have a lot of positive review. You could maybe call the IRS about him not filing taxes.

the best thing for you to do is go to the attorney general in your state and start demanding. that is all you can do. if you can prove hes being paid cash well there you go. that entains a private eye which is expensive do you have that? what ever you do he'll have to retire someday and its still due so there you go savings. just keep trying or get lawyer to help one that works and does his job. there are few of them around though

Yeah good luck with that one. I have the same problem. My ex was out of state and the people here weren't doing anything. It wasn't until I called the police station there that anything was done. I had to tell them his address and everything before they knew where he was. Now he just got out of jail today after only 6 months and being in the hole more than $30,000 between 2 children. I don't think I'll ever see any money out of him. The only thing that works is keeping on them. Or since he owes that much you could go to supportkids.com. From what I understand they will give the money and then go after him.

I kept calling the CSEA who has my child support case. I nagged them and nagged them until they issued a warrent. It went to criminal court. He served 11 months in prison- not jail- and is now paying. (Not the total amount but he's paying something.) If he misses another payment, he goes back to prison for 5 years. Any money he gets while in prison (VA benefits, working in the prison) comes to me. My ex owes me 26k. And I intend on seeing every penny of it, especially since I've NEVER witheld the children from him.
