I dont's want to go to collage. I'm also about done getting my highschool eduacation. my girlfirends parents make about $40,000 dollars a year. which is a lot of money! I make about 150 a week at the warehouse, but I want to quit that job soon anyway and get a better job with the county goverment. i think they (her parents) will probably not be around so much longer because they are real sick. my girlfriend is there only kid and they have already said they will give her everything including the new cadilac. basically i love her very much and want to marry her for long time. is it ok to skip going to collage? she already has a good job at a local retail mall store. What do you guys think? i'm excited about it. we could buy a house right away. which is good because she has a baby coming soon.

1. $40,000 is NOT a lot of money, especially for her parents to take on a free loading son-in-law.

2. Most marriages end in divorce so don't bank on this girl or her family giving you a free ride for the rest of your life.

Dear, I have news for you. $40,000 a year is not much at all! Is this per parent, or together? Even if their sum total is $80,000 a year, if they live in southern California it won't even pay for a house.

OK, so what if you marry this "rich" girlfriend and only last a year before she divorces you and bounces you out on your ear? Then what will you do and where will you go?

The new Cadillac will only be new for a short time. In 6 years it will be a used car that has depreciated in value. What happens when the used Cadillac starts needing new parts and repairs? Will you be able to afford it? Anybody can buy or receive something; that doesn't take any brains. The hard part is the MAINTENANCE.

She works at a retail mall store? Pitiful. Probably working at minimum wage. That's hardly what I would call a "good" job. And now she's pregnant? Foolish, such very foolish children. You two are babies having babies. That poor infant - what he or she is going to be born into! I feel sorry for the poor little one.

Don't be a fool. Go to college and get an education. Learn how to stand on your own two feet and don't rely on someone else to house, feed and clothe you. Money comes and money goes -- but they can't take an education away from you. I'm sorry to say that your letter only shows how pitifully unaware you are of life's challenges and how unprepared you are for what is coming ahead. Your lack of education is appalling. When you get out into the world and have to compete with other educated working adults, you will begin to realize how much you do not yet know.

This is a joke....right? You think $40,000 a year is a lot of money, a Cadillac is a good sign, and your girlfriend only works at a retail mall store and you think this is a good sign!!! Well if this is your greatest goal, hell no don't spend time on colllege where you could wind up with a job in the 6 figures. Shoot low. It's easier that way.

So what if she is rich. (By the way, believe me.... she ain't rich working in the mall and her parents only make $40,000!) Get an education so you will have that to fall back on. Why would you want to be the one without a pillow? Regardless, that is HER money and at the end of the day, she has the final say so as to how and when it will be spent. You're still in high school so you shouldn't be thinking about marriage yet. Regardless of a person's status, everyone should have their own education and something to fall back on.

Good luck.

Yes it is a very good idea to go to college because even menial minimum wage jobs are now beginning to require at least a two year degree. In some states McDonald's requires at least an Associates degree to say "would you like fries with that?" If you want to get at least that job rather than cleaning the toilets you need to go on to college. Plus there is no guarantee your girlfriend is going to marry you at this point in time and $40,000.00 a year isn't a lot of money, and if she inherits anything while she is still single that is HER money and HER possessions you won't be able to get any of it. I'm sure that after awhile of her husband hawking fries for McPuke's she's going to become interested in maybe a doctor or lawyer. See women as they get older tend to prefer MEN with brains rather than little boys.

Does the word "mooch" come to mind at all. For god sakes, you have a baby coming and all you can think of is what you will be getting for free. Grow up. Work days and further you education at night, because mommy and daddy might be around much longer than you think and $150 a week isn't going to raise a child.

Anything can happen to your future wife. She may have a huge accident to where she can't work anymore... she may die... anything can happen. Getting a college degree is a good idea. And wait a minute, aren't you the one who's supposed to be supporting her and not the other way around?

You can't depend on other people making money for you.

And working at a mall doesn't strike me as a stable career...
How about you be a good man and go to college and get good money for the both of you... and the baby.

first of all 40,000 dollars a year is NOT a lot of money, go to college, wat if things don't work out w/ your girlfriend? you will need a back up plan, don't rely on your girlfriend for everything, don't you want to be the man of the family? or do you want to be her kept man?
