You might feel differently if you owned the Orlando Magic. Donovan agreed to a contract with the Magic and immediately backed out. Now, I wouldn't keep him there if he didn't want to be there, so in a sense no harm, no foul. Still, this doesn't help his reputation much.
Billy Beane of the Oakland A's went through a similar dance with the Red Sox, and Boston has done OK with the "second choice," Theo Epstein. So maybe things will work out for Orlando.
