The difference between a republican and democrat: a totally different set of friends and associates.

And most notable - if you took someone today who claims to be a Republican or Democrat - and put them back 100 years - the set of friends and associates would be totally different in behavior and political desires.

The terms are symbols of association and for some they are just adjectives.

Republicans supports tax cuts, gun rights, school choice, privatizing social security, and peace through strength. And they opposes abortion, same sex marriage, race-based quotas, and socialized health care.

Democrats are the opposite on all those issues.

Democrats support big government, and Republicans are supposed to support smaller government, but they seem to end up expanding the size of government anyway.

Note that I'm a Republican, so some people might say my description is slightly biased towards Republicans. But I think it's pretty accurate.

Republicans lean more toward the Biblical principles and Democrats are more on the side of the secular humanism religion. Dems want the gvt to run everyone's lives, taking all power from the local gvts.

A job, a mortgage, and children to take care of.

Most are democrat until they take some personal responsibility, buy a house, invest, have an education, or get gainfully employed. Then they become Republican so they can protect what they've worked for.

Sadly, some never grow up or learn.
