I really DONT want a C-section. I have a 2year old that I will have to take care of when I get back from the hosptial. I have no help from family only my husband and he has to work.

ANYTHING before 37 weeks means the baby is a preemie, I'm sorry Jacqueline, but your estimates are a little off 37-40 weeks is on time anything earlier is preemie. I actually spoke with my doctor today and she said everything looks according to schedule and she said anytime after 38 weeks I can have a scheduled inducement now your specific case is different and your doctor is different too, technically any baby born 37 weeks or later is on time, so if your baby is really that big they may let you at around 37 weeks but my doctor told me 38 weeks or later

If an ultra sound reveal a 13 pounder it's a pound either way. So, 12 or 13 or 14.
It doesn't make a difference how big the baby's body is. His lungs HAVE to be fully developed before he makes his entrance.
Also, with a baby that big, you need to see about a C-section for the safety of the baby.
Look up Erbs Palsey.

13 lbs.???? OUCH i feel sorry for you. ;-) Well your dr is a doc for a reason, they have studied and they know what is best for you and baby. If he/she feels you need to be induced, they will induce, weather it be for complications, or baby is too big, or anything. If you are uncomfortable, you should discuss this with the doc. maybe they can tell you how to ease some of the pain or get a little comfort. But if you are looking for them to induce just because you are tired of being pregnant (which most of us feel that way ;-) chances are they will not. They usually wont induce unless you are past your due date or there is a medical reason why they need to. Just alot to go thru you know. I know how you feel, I am ready to have this baby. Seems like I will be pregnant forever though. Good luck, congrads on baby, and best wishes!

They would have to do an ultra sound and other test to determine if the babys lungs are properly developed. But induction at 36 weeks is most certainly not unheard of. I wouldnt personally do it earlier. You could talk to your doctor about the possibility of a c section as well.

Before 37 weeks is too early. Only in cases of a medical emergency will they do that. At 37 weeks the lungs are mature.

It honestly depends...if your baby is big and seems to have developed ok, the doctor may go ahead and induce you. My friend was induced at 36 weeks because her babies get so huge...and the dr knew there was no risk by letting her have the baby at that stage. So it just depends on how your doctor feels about it....but he may give the ok if the baby is big enough.

Before 33 wks. The most important thing is the babys lung development. If the lungs are ready then its okay. By the way the lungs being ready to breath on their own is the last thing to happen.
