Isn't the real problem the fear-mongering, the fact that all too often these days, the rhetoric around these anti-terror arrests doesn't fit the charges? Is it the first time we've seen officials get overstimulated when announcing terrorism charges?

So why is is that, in so many terror cases, prosecutors seem to go out of their way to make alleged bad guys sound scarier than they are?

These four terrorist bozos schemed to blow up fuel tanks and a fuel pipeline at JFK Airport; not passenger terminals or airplanes.

Don't some cops and prosecutors like to turn their targets into superheroes? Doesn't it help to justify their hard work and make life more interesting?

So, every time the government is found to be embellishing its case, doesn't the public lose a little bit of faith?

I know that we always laughed at some local headline about a "pot bust," when we knew that the weed involved was "ditch weed" at best...but that "street value" figure always looks good in print...

it was absolutely blown out of proportion. Aviation/Airport Facility experts are coming out saying there is no way this thing could have been pulled off as Federal Prosecutors described it. You can't light off fuel storage tanks by using the pipeline. There are way too many shut-off valves and safety features to allow that. I know personally about this, I've worked with these systems for many years.

I don't believe there is a restriction. In my humble opinion, after you depart the plane, you should be able to wait in the the boarding area (I did it in Bogota, Columbia for 26 hours when I missed my connecting flight due to bad weather from Cali) and that was 2 months after 9/11. Most people would think you are waiting to depart when they see you sitting around. The only problem I would see you having is if you have checked luggage that has to be picked up in baggage claims and have to leave to get it and then be stucked outside of the security area. Since you need your boarding pass to get back in. Then you'll be in areas where its going to be cold and a tad windy so make sure you have something warm with you close by. If you can, Terminal 4 is the best of the JFK terminals when it comes to places to hang out. Good Luck.

You know, after reading this statement, a thought came to mind. How easy it is to belittle a threat when you live in the middle of absolutely no where and and can pretty much feel safe, knowing that you are certainly not going to be targeted because the damage would be minimal. Sure, lives would be lost, but certainly not the amount that could conceivably be lost in more populated areas.

I believe that awareness it a good thing. :)

I'm with you, John. I too live in a relatively rural area and can sit back and scoff at those in areas that are more populated for demonstrating fear and taking these things seriously.

It's not a fear tactic...cuz 9-11 made it a reality..they danced in made themselves at home for how long? and killed a lot of Americans...
If you don't think these insane people will do it again..you are dellusional........America wake up....

Use you head - consider, if we overestimate the enemy, they will fail and we and our loved ones will be secure, safe and alive.
But if we underestimate the enemy - well, you get the picture.

Their objectives, blood lust and tactics have been made crystal clear - have you not been paying attention?

If a Dem was in office would it be exaggerated in your eyes? Didn't think so. You're just mad because the Bush administration is getting some much deserved positive publicity. Your questions make me thank God every day that I am on the right side-literally.

it doesn't even seem to matter. did you know the word "idiot" derives from latin and referred to everyone who wasn't a politician? in other words, everyone who was trusting their fate to the government without being involved themselves.
