I believe that downloading music for free, at least in most cases, is illegal. However, this is what I did: I downloaded a free audio recorder (see below), signed up for a free membership with Live 365, and record the music/songs as I would on a stereo system off the radio. I even use a free sound editor (Wave Pad) to edit the recording; isolate the songs I like and put them on a separate file, then name the file whatever I like, and save it on a playlist like the one in Media Player.

do not, repeat not, do limewire there is a big chance of getting a virus. anyways i'm not sure you can get music free and legal at the same time because if it is free than the artist doesn't get paid. so....

well if you want FREE & LEGAL thats really hard to find the only thing i can think of is if you go on myspace and go to band or artsist pages they sometimes (but rarely) let you download music.
