Is is possible for some cell phones not to recieve text messeges?

I have found text messages to be hit or miss. Cingular and verizon were pretty reliable but i haven't had the best of luck with nextel. Lots of lost messages.

It is possible. Text messaging is not a given; it is a service you have to select (or in some cases, deselect), so all cell phones are capable of NOT receiving text messages.

Very old cell phones do not support text messaging.
