I don't think mermaids are cannibals. Mermaid is half fish and half human. Just because they eat fish that doesn't make them cannibals. Sharks eat fish too and they are not cannibals. Unless you can prove it or else I believe mermaids aren't cannibals.

All fish eat fish, that's a fact of life. But a mermaid isn't a fish, since she has lungs and breathes air. She's a mammal, like a dolphin.

No, and I'm not sure why you would want to know. Technically, like a whale, a mermaid would be a mammal (if they existed.) So, it's not cannibalism, because it would be like us eating fish.

Now, I'm still curious why you want to know...

By the definitions of the word cannibal, no. A cannibalistic creature is one that eats other memebers of its own species.

There is little information available on what such a creature's diet would consist of, granting its existance. (One would presume fish, kelp, and other such things readily found in what would be their native habitat.)

Yeah, well, why don't sheep shrink when it rains outside? My laundry always shrinks when I wash it.

See, your question is hypothetical because your asking if. If, if, if! The fact of the matter is, they don't eat fish. They eat seaweed. But if they did, that would be just as unexplainable as sheep not shrinking when they get rained on. BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA.

Here, have a star.

No unless they eat members of their same speceis, they're not canibals. That would be like asking "If humans eat cows, dose that make them cannibals because they're both mammals?.......Mermaids aren't real though it, be nice if they were. :(

Yes. Unless mermaids/mermen are 100% vegetarian, they are definitely cannibals.

The same would apply to fauns and centaurs that eat goat/horse meat (or goat/horse related products, such as goat milk).
