I am working and will be getting my first check this week.
I have some options I could do but if you have any more ideas then you can list them too.
1- I must give $50 to my neice - i promised her to buy her favorite doll.
2- pay for my driving school.
3-give my first check to my mom. I want her to know that she can depend on me now instead of begging my father for money.
4- go shopping

Sounds like you already have some plans. Consider one thing. Save a little. I'm not suggesting you sock half of it away or anything, but pick out a percentage you can live with and put it in an account for the future. I don't think your mom would even take your first paycheck (of course I could be wrong) but she might accept a token, or a nice gift, or even some flowers. She is going to get a lot of joy out of seeing you become independent, and she can't do that if you hand all of your money over to her to manage. Shopping is a great idea. A little reward for all your hard work is certainly appropriate, but set a limit, or save for something over several paychecks (hmmm, maybe after this paycheck. It's probably important to get at least one tangible thing to prove that the money works!) The doll for the niece shows generosity, and the driving school shows that you are looking out for your future (and it would sure be easier to get to work if you could drive there)

Are you thinking about college at all? Even if you have a scholarship, it's nice to have some money put aside for incidentals and emergencies. Eventually you will want to consider your belief system, spiritual health, giving back to the community, whatever you prefer to think of it as. This doesn't have to be an overwhelming amount either, but the sooner you start, the easier it will be to maintain the habit.

One last thing. Put something back into your work. I don't care if it's a pair of comfortable shoes, an extra top to wear, some tools to help you do your job, or even a cellphone so you can keep in touch with whoever picks you up and takes you home until you can drive. If you invest in your work/career, it will mean more to you and you will ultimately do a better job. Sometimes you even get rewarded for it. (Not always) Hope this helps.

Make a photocopy of it and frame the photocopy.
When many years go by, you will want to look back at your first paycheck!!

Now, GOOD FOR YOU to give $50 to your neice. She is very lucky to have a person like you in her life.

Second, give $20 to mom. Try to do this every payday. It does not sound like much, but $20 will be a lot for her!! It is the gesture, not the amount. Again, good for you for thinking about her.

Third, buy something for yourself. If clothes, go to a outlet store. They have items that you would buy in a regular store, for 1/3 the price. I bought a $150 winter coat, for $35 one time. Not used, brand new, but deep discounted.

Fourth, any left over? Put it aside for your driving school. Good luck when you go to get qualified for your drivers license.

the only thank you to quit living from examine to examine is to do away with a number of your debt. as quickly as you're paying much less income expenses, you could start up saving funds. I consider different posters - quit utilising the credit enjoying cards. Get them paid down, and then call your credit card company and ask them to shrink your spending shrink. That way, you will no longer get into worry returned with the enjoying cards. look at your life form - what issues are you able to change, with the intention to shop funds? i admire Starbuck's, in spite of the incontrovertible fact that it incredibly is a great occasion - in case you purchase a medium latte each morning on your thank you to artwork, you're spending $20 a week - it incredibly is $a million,040 a year. that funds could be extra effective off in a decrease fee costs account, drawing activity. there are a number of differences you may make with the intention to launch funds on your budget. And conversing of budgets, make one and shop on with it. incorporate saving funds on your budget, whether it incredibly is in common terms $20 or $30 a pay examine. that funds will upload up over the years.

It's very kind and generous to buy your neice a doll.
Save 10 percent of the check.
Treat yourself to something you'd like. Something special that you'll remember you bought with your first check. Your Mom must be very proud of you.

Pay yourself first and then look at the nice gestures that you would like to make. It is never to early to start saving for your future. If you can, pay 10 or !5% of the money to yourself in a savings account, retirement plan, bonds, mutual funds, etc.

Showing your mother that you can be responsible with your money will help to her see that she was a good parent to you.

How sweet that you're doing all of this! I'd say do as much of all of them as you can, putting shopping at the bottom of the list. If your driving school takes up most of your check, I'd still say to your mom that she could depend on you. Maybe take her out to dinner or something nice.

Open checking and savings accounts, get checks, and welcome to the real world :)

Good luck to you!

You've had solid advice. Now choose your best answer!

Personally I'm with you all the way. But do save money and put that into some kind of retirement account. That's what you should do with 10% savings.

Go shopping. Your niece doesn't need any more dolls. Driving is overrated. Your mom knows you will not ask her for money this month.

You have got to be kidding.

I'm happy for you that you are excited about your new paycheck, but I know NOTHING about your personal situation to be able to answer this question intelligently.

And I'm so depressed at what has happened to the philosophy forum. I left the religion section to get away from trolls. And now they are us.
