I have trouble with good ideas for making her birthday special. She's the type of girl who cares more about something being thoughtful then being expensive. Any ideas?

Oh yes.. plenty..

Have a picture drawn of your favorite picture together.

If the birthday is far enough away, make a small scrapbook of your favorite moments.

Make her breakfast in bed or dinner that evening.. a quiet night without the kids (if you have them).

Take her to the movies and let her pick which one you watch.

Run her a bath with select products from her favorite line and have candles lit or a good book for her to read.

Plant her favorite flowers in your yard so she can remember it for years to come.

If you have kids, watch them so she can go out with the girls.

Send her a card in the mail- she won't be expecting one from you that way!

Put a basket together full of (however many things= to her age, eg. age 24, 24 things) things that remind you of her (and things that she would also like.. i.e. a movie you saw together, her favorite candy,etc.).

Hope these helped.. good luck!

Plan a really fun and romantic weekend away. It doesn't have to involve a flight, just a great hotel close by. What is her favorite thing to do? Plan something around that even if it isn't your favorite. Get her a spa treatment in your area... a whole day of pampering can be great. And then take her to a great place for dinner....expensive and unusual for you to do. Or have a personal chef come to the house to make a fab dinner for you both. Add a nice gift and a special night is already in the making.

My husband gave me a surprise party at a comedy club. He knows I love comedy. I actually thought he was going out of town and he felt bad. He had my son take me to dinner and he stopped off at this comedy place and told me to go with him. When I got there, he had the whole room filled with about 60 people. I never had a surprise party. Let me tell you, it's so flattering that every one would show up, just to celebrate your day. I loved it. Think about what she likes and go with that. Women always love being pampered and being treated like a princess. Another good idea might be to have a progressive dinner planned. Go to one place for an appetizer, another for dinner and another for desert. Make sure you do your research, make sure they serve all her favorites at each place. Then when you go to the desert place, have something special for her there. Just some ideas. Just by you asking what you should do makes me think you'll do fine.. I think that's sweet to be thinking of something special for your wife.

Switch roles for the day. You clean the house do the laundry to all the housework.
Maybe breakfast in bed. Then maybe a gift certificate to a local spa/ salon while she is there cook her up a special meal. Get rose petals spread them thru the whole house and then havea special romantic evening for the two of you.
ENJOY!!

Send her to a day spa and let her get the works. Making her day all about her. Finish up with dinner and a nice bottle of wine. She will melt! Good luck.

You may consider hiring a maid for the day to do all the chores she normally do. Also, you may consider a few hours at a day spa followed by a quite meal at home prepared by someone else. Or a massage.
