exactly, every year because they go over this cap they make the playoffs and the cycle continues until their players get old. and now they are getting old. teams like the indians who are younger are way better now that they have played for a few years. now the indians will need to make the playoffs to pay their players.
this is one of the reasons why the yankees. they cheat the system.

I'm going to be diplomatic about this one and say that while capping the MLB there would be much more parity in the game and would stop teams from being so dominant. It would also allow the lower payroll teams to sign a free agent like A-Rod, Manny, Pujols. At the same time, if the team does have the money then they should be allowed to spend it. It isn't Boston & NY's fault that their fans pack their stadiums day in and day out and Tampa can't even fill one section a night. The elite teams with high payrolls have a very good business sense about the game...so why penalize them?

By having no salary cap it means the league is decided on the Spending ability of the owner. There will be a salary cap once Steinbrener dies or sells the team. I do not see many other men on the planet willing to lose $100 million on a baseball team that may or may not be good. In fact, he was the only owner who actually voted against the salary cap and since the vote must be unanimous, we get to watch a financial disaster.

Being a huge yankee fan i can unbiassly say that the red sox are garbage and the yankees should be able to spend as they please. If u dont like it wise up and become a yankee fan. If they made a cap the yankees might not be as good anymore. They have some of the highest paid players including the most highest paid currently. GO YANKS!!

I don't think it's "right" but it really doesn't matter because all the money they have spent is not helping. Sure they have good players but they are below .500. Overspending in baseball is usually done by a few teams and I don't think it should be capped. The Marlins have a very low payroll every year but are very competitive.

I dont know what youre talking about. The Red Sox are second with 150 Mill. And yes the should put a salary cap on baseball. I say 75 mill per year per team, and a 5 million bonus if you win the world Series to pay your players bonus for winning.

I don't think that a salary cap would be a bad thing but if the Yankees want to spend that much without the cap let them...the highest salary doesn't mean a World Series...just ask, well, the Yankees about that.

IMO, you only end up with institutionalized mediocrity when you have a salary cap, and I love the NFL. The Yankees have the money, it's only American they be permitted to spend as they see fit. BTW, I'm an A's fan - Small market, small budget - but I don't begrudge the Yankees what they have. That's called business.

no. I don't like the Nfl communist system. I think without a cap teams can bring players from other countries and they have a World game. With a cap fan favorites would have to be cut and play in other teams and that just hurt fans.
