I like shows/movies about dysfuntional families (so much more interesting than Brady-style ones). I have read that it is very good, but it is also about Mormons, am I right? I am not big on religious dramas (aka 7th Heaven). Anywhay, as I share a tv I don't want to convince my housemates to watch it unless it is really good (they are kind of tv nazis...).

Thank you!

Yes . The show is kinda like six feet under except someone doesn't die in every episode. Plus you can't get more dysfunctional than a man married to three woman in 3 seperate houses with seven kids.

The show is interesting, because there are in fact families in the USA or other countries who still practice polygamy or polyamy(men have multiple partners, women have multiple partners) It's not exactly about Mormons. From what I have seen/watched, Bill (the husband) and his 1st wife were LDS (Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, aka Mormons) I knwo this because Bill said once that his wife missed being LDS (1st season) Then his second wife is from what looks like to be either the FLDS (the one where they practice polygamy mostly live in rural Utah, Warren Jeffs recently caught and arrested) or another LDS/ "mormon" sect. Also Bill pays money on his companies to the prophet of the FLDS church or other mormon sect, whichever one they are now apart of. These churches do not consider themselves Mormons, in fact they don't believe in most of the things LDS believe, for example they do not have temples, a key belief in the LDS faith. So it is not about Mormons aka LDS church who do not practice polygamy, it is about another sect. Mormons/LDS banned polygamy, and anyone who practices it will be excommunicated.

Love - Big Love. Although it does make references to religion that is far from the major story line. It's sort of Dallas (the soap opera) meets commune living.

If it's about Mormons, I'm glad I don't watch it. From what I've heard, it's not about MOrmons, even tho that is inferred from being set in Utah, etc.
