There are millions of animal species in this world. What use of all these? Cicadas will ask the same question, what is the point of human beings as far as they are concerned? All animals are product of evolution and all have become depended on others. Many times a species is there (evolved)just as a sculpture's or artist's work of art. No reason (why or what for) to be there but has asthetic value.

The same point as any other life. All that any living things do is to mate, reproduce, and die. But humans have the ability to create knowledge along the way, and transmit it to future generations. From an evolutionary point of view, this is a stupendous advantage.

There is no need to bash cicadas, since most of the human and all other animals do the same thing too...

In fact, birth and death are the foundation of the nature.

What have you done that makes you smart today?

That is what you do, except for the click part. The " point " of cicadas is to replicate cicada genes.

That there is a "point" to any living thing is a religious idea.

Living things are as they have evolved to best get along and reproduce in the world they find themselves. Nothing more, nothing less.

This applies to humans too, by the way.

Aw, but they are neat... at least they have more of a 'life' and are more interesting then many other bugs...

Ever held one? Pretty cool to get the chance to...but not too comfortable, they hold on to you with a surprising amount of tight grip.
