Does anyone know how many times you have to encounter a wild Ponyta/Houndoom/Staravia/ or Floatzel before you encounter the shiny version of it?

The chance of getting a shiny is 1/8192, which is a 0.01%. So if you fight 8192 battles, probably one of those you'll meet a Shiny.

It's completely random. The odds are said to be one in 8192. There's a rumor floating around that using pokeradar improves the odds.

I encountered a shiny graveler before I'd fought 2000 battles. It's an interesting gold color!

WHOA WHOA WHOA WHOA! The chance of finding a shiny pokemon is a 1 in 8192 chance. There is no number of pokemon you need to see its shiny form. However, there is a theory that a pokemon's shiny form can only be found in one area (without hacking, that is, heehee). One patch of grass, one part of a cave, etc. Now, I can trade you some shiny pokemon if you want them so much. I have Action Replay and have made plenty. Email me your Friend Code and I'll email you mine.

there is a 1 in 8121 chance of seeing a shiny so you probably wont ever find one. even after 8121 battles there is still a 1 in 8121 chance of finding one in battle. the chance is for 1 battle not that you will definatly find one after 8121 battles. most people never even see a shiny pokemon
