Believe me your doc has heard everything, and that's her job is to help you and answer any questions you have. You can start by telling her you feel ill at ease about asking her this but it's important to you. And I'm sure she'll make you feel more comfortable & she won't judge you & make you feel like you're being silly.

I have an idea. How about you ask your mom or a female relative about TSS. It is not a big deal and it is a rare chance that it will happen to you. You can also call up your doctor and ask her about about it on the phone, but all in all, you have nothing to worry about. She is well aware of the use of tampons and will be very informative to you about TSS. Personally, I use pads because tampons hurt for me and I don't have to worry about TSS, just the fact I have to change my pad every 6-7 hours (depending on the day of my period)... Don't be afraid because she has gone through the same thing. Good luck in the future.

Your doctor has probably had way more embarrassing situations than a girl asking about tampons, I'm sure. But if you really don't want to, you can find out all kinds of info on the internet. Or just buy a box - they all come with information inside about how to use them and what TSS is.

Please don't be embarrased. Your doctor is trained to discuss these things. It's really a matter of how you ask this question. Speak with confidence, not in a whisper, ask about it as if you were inquiring on the best brand of lotion. Better yet present it in a way that you are looking for a solution to a problem. For example, I like to participate in sports such as swimming, and or dance, and I hear that tampons allow you to do those activities with more comfort and security than a maxi. What are your thoughts on this ? I dont think there is a better way to discuss the subject without saying the words, so it's better to just spit it out. Chances are, your doctor has heard it before.

U shouldnt be worried & usually u dont need 2 ask a doctor but after ur 2nd or 3rd period u can start 2 use tampons. If u want u can ask ur doctor if ur still a little worried, its a good thing 2 ask though if ur worried. Its not that embarassing & if u want 2 u can write it down on a piece of paper that might make it less embarassing.

Oh ask away. They have heard it all and it is less embrassing than asking your own Mother.

TSS risk is only high when you use too high of an absorbancy and you leave it in and forget about it too long.

As long as you use the right ones. If you are light bleeder then use the lights or medium, or heavy. Check it every few hours or so. You will be fine.

How about your Mom or going on line to Tampax's website? There's lots of good information there.Using internal protection versus external is more of a preference than a health choice.Like wearing a sports bra or a pushup bra. Do lots of reading on TSS,so you understand how to prevent it.But ask some friends or your mom and see how different women feel about the different products. Best of luck.

you usually don't have to ask your doctor about switching to tampons. as long as it is after your second period you should be fine. the directions come in every box so if you dont know how follow those.

Just ask her to tell you all about tampons and TSS if you don't want to bother reading about them.
