The economy of a country is hard to change even under the most favorable of circumstances and powerful interest groups who want to maintain the status quo make it even more difficult. People vastly over estimate what politicians can do, both because the policies proposed will only have small effects and more often than not, it is not possible to get them enacted because of powerful opposition.

There's a difference in the method but the outcome is the same. The leftist take from everyone and dole out to their supporters. First they take your money, then your freedom and finally your life.

The conservatives, do in indirectly. Trading sale taxes and tariffs for income taxes. Then they dole out the money to their supporters. They also indirectly attack your freedom by simply limiting your choices to the ones they approve.

The founders of the U.S. new this well. Thats why they set up a system of limited government to prevent this thief. But Lincoln subverted the limited government and used the Civil war to set up an uber alles Federal government. For which we have suffered every since.

Yes, the present system in the USA is about exploitation not good government. There is an agreement between the party's you rob them this term or till they(the citizens) throw you, then it's our turn. By passing the opportunity to plunder back and forth voluntarily the party's avoid costly wars and the possibility of death of their members.
