i mean something that affects you psychologicaly. like a horrible event in your life and loved one dying etc.

i for one feel nothing. its not that i dont care either. but when i here something that has happend i dont feel anything at all. it realy doesnt begin to sink in until weeks later and it affects me subconciously. like random and sudden sadness about nothing in particular or lonliness. and its also not that i try to ignore it. i wish i could deal with it but when i search for it and try to bring up some emotion i draw a blank.

If you are like I used to be, you are repressing your feelings . Please seek out a counsellor. Someone you can confide in and figure out what you feel. Sooner or later, you will come to grips of your feelings. You'll be glad you did.

Everyone copes differently. It may not be the typical way, but maybe some things are just too much for you to deal with right away. As long as you're not hurting others or yourself, you're probably fine, since it seems like eventually you do face your emotions. However, if you're truly concerned, rather than seeking answers on the internet, why don't you get professional help? Good luck.

You know what that's called? You actually hurt so bad, you become numb. I am sorry for you because many people around you feel you have no emotions. They don't know how deeply you hurt, and the way you end up managing it is probably a good way.
It is hard to live up to other people's expectations. If anyone says something to you, maybe you can say, "I think the event has affected me so bad I am numb. I am sorry I cannot respond to you right now. Later, my thoughts will catch up with how bad I feel, and I will express it then. Forgive me for now." Hopefully the message will be heard.

It sounds like you are just shoked at bad news at first (very normal). After it sets in as reality, you start to feel something. Don't worry, this is probably just your survival mechanism.
