i think it all depends on the hospital. In my hospital we check a complete blood count on all c-sections 24 hours after delivery. We dont check and actual iron level, but if your Hematocrit is low then you will be prescribed iron. If you loose a certain amount of blood during a vaginal delivery then you will get the same thing....

I don't know that you'd HAVE to, but if you had a lot of bleeding (regardless of the type of birth it was), it might be advisable.

If they regularly do this test at your hospital, they would do it no matter which way you gave birth.
