Who is the "Father Of Modern Energy"?

I love questions like this. Speaking in metaphor, the question has no objective meaning. Yet, it appears in a science text book because somewhere in chapter it says, "Joe Schmo is considered the Father of Modern Energy". All I can say is read the chapter; the US Secretary of Energy couldn't answer this one if he didn't.
